Q.        What is AcademicFCU Online?

A.        AcademicFCU Online is an internet account access system, by which Academic Federal Credit Union’s members can view their account history, make transfers between subaccounts (i.e. 00-1 shares, 55-1 share draft, 80-1 loan), download transaction history to their own PCs and in the near future pay their bills on-line.

 

Q.        How Does AcademicFCU Online Work?

A.        Members can access AcademicFCU Online from the Credit Union’s website, www.AcademicFCU.org.   After logging onto the AcademicFCU Online site using a member account number and personal identification number (PIN) combination, the member will have several menu options to choose from.  When finished a member must logout of the Online service before leaving the internet site.

 

Q.        How Do I Get Started?

A.        Members wishing to use AcademicFCU Online must complete an enrollment form and send it to AFCU’s main office.  We will mail you a secure personal identification number (PIN).

 

Q.        How Secure Is AcademicFCU Online?

A.        Privacy and security are very important issues to the Academic Federal Credit Union.  AcademicFCU Online makes use of 3DES encryption, IPSec protocol and a VPN tunnel for all transactions executed for the online application as well as a physical firewall to protect its member’s privacy and security.  Members are strongly encouraged to update their web browsers to the latest versions of MS Internet Explorer™ or Netscape™ to take advantage of the security of those applications.

 

Q.        How Secure is My PIN Number?

A.        Once you have gotten into both audio response and AcademicFCU Online it is strongly suggested that you change your PIN for security purposes.

 

            Note:    It is important that when you select audio response and AcademicFCU Online PINs that you do not use numbers easily associated with you as an individual.

 

Q.        Can I Pay My Bills with AcademicFCU Online?

A.        At this time, the bill payment function is not available.  This feature will be added at a later date.  You will be able to pay anyone through the AcademicFCU Online bill payment option.

 

 

 

Q.        Can I Download Account Information Into My Personal Computer?

A.        You CAN download account history in several different ways.  You can select a beginning and ending date for a range of transactions, you can select all transactions since the last download, or you can individually select certain transactions for download.  AcademicFCU Online allows downloads in a ‘QIF’ format.  You can then import this information from your PC into financial packages such as Quicken ™ or Microsoft Money ™.

 

Q.        Why Don’t I have Online Access in the Late Afternoon?

A.        Every day, after the close of business, the Credit Union initiates its end-of-day processing.  Prior to that, our computer system is prepared to handle audio response and AcademicFCU Online access.  In the late afternoon the backing up of our computer system can take about one (1) hour, during which time neither audio response nor AcademicFCU Online will be available.
